Financial Mathematics Program
Aim
The Financial Mathematics program of the Northwest Department of Mathematics is designed to help motivated students to develop a solid foundation of mathematics, and a good understanding of mathematical ideas and skills, especially in financial mathematics, so that they can be engaged as senior professional personnel in education, economy and enterprises, and can be qualified candidates for graduate programs in financial mathematics and related disciplines. Specific objectives:Through studying the basic theory and methods of financial mathematics and statistics, being trained in the research and application of financial mathematics, and knowing the forefront of the theory and its applications, as well as being familiar with a foreign language and computer, graduates should meet the following requirement:
1.Students have solid foundation in mathematics, finance and statistics, accept more rigorous scientific thinking training, and master the basic theory and basic methods of financial mathematics and statistics.
2.Students have ability to solve practical problems by using mathematical knowledge and ways of thinking, in particular, to establish a mathematical model and know the applications of mathematics in economics, finance and other disciplines.
3.Student can synthetically use a foreign language, be skilled in using computers and statistical software, and be capable of developing some programs for application.
4.They will know certain aspects of the cutting-edge theory and some application prospects of financial mathematics and statistics.
5.They will have strong skills in language, gathering information and inquiries, document retrieval and application of the Internet to get information about the methods of scientific research and teaching ability.
6.They will have knowledge of national policies and regulations of relevant science and technology, intellectual property and so on.

Mathematical analysis, algebra, probability theory, ordinary differential equations, Western economics, stochastic processes, time series analysis, financial mathematics, econometrics, mathematical economics, international finance, financial engineering, insurance, statistics, Western Currency financial theory, database technology, operations research, statistical analysis software, actuarial, mathematical models, statistical inference, China's financial history, etc.
Main practice teaching courses:
Experimental mathematics, computer practice, professional practice, graduation practice and graduation design.
Credit Requirements: Total credits 179 credits. In which: school through courses of 50 credits, core curriculum of 41 credits, the disciplines direction courses of 18 credits, general education courses of 12 credits, elective courses of 34 credits, practical teaching of 14 credits, extra-curricular additional credits of 10 credits.
